Update December 2025

I just wanted to take a moment to drop a quick note for anybody out there who is interested in what I'm working on at the moment. This year, 2025, will be the first calendar year since 2018 where I haven't released a book. I didn't want anyone who's waiting for my next story (either of you) to think that I've given up writing, been hit by a bus, or been abducted by aliens. I've been busy on two separate stories, one of which is now and for the last two months been getting the whole of my writing time.

Writing time, therein lies the issue. Work, as in the day job, is always an issue but I'm not complaining. Spring and Summer is hard for me, because there's so much else I like to do outside that does not involve a screen. Then there's the Cubs, which admittedly involves a screen, and me screaming at said screen, because the owners refuse to open their very fat wallets to spend real money on top pitching talent. Pitching is ... important.

In general, my writing always speeds up in the Fall and really gets going in the Winter. This year doesn't look to be any different. My current WIP, "The Dead Wolves" is progressing quickly and its first draft is about 60% done. It's a straight up space opera in the military sci-fi genre. I'm admittedly proud of the eclectic band of characters (losers, has beens, and wanna bes ) that inhabit this story and who are thrown together by an advanced, illegal, and in-the-wind AI who seems to believe in God, and who may or may not be insane. I'm having fun writing it.
